Head Start Program Details, hours, photos, information: Mid-Iowa Community Action Head Start and Early Head Start

Our Head Start program is for children ages 3 or 4 OR Children that will be 3 by September 15, 2019. Our Head Start Classroom is located in Nevada IA. Families must reside in Story County but not Ames. Our Preschool classroom in Nevada is open from 7 to 5pm.


Early Head Start and Head Start is free for qualifying families. In some cases, children who do not qualify under income guidelines may be eligible. Such as children with special needs. Homeless children are eligible regardless of income.

To qualify for MICA's Early Head Start program, you must meet the following criteria:
Be the primary caregiver or parent of a child under 3 years of age, or be a pregnant woman expecting a child
Meet income guidelines
Reside in Hardin, Marshall, Tama, Poweshiek, or Story counties
